When was the last time you had an especially memorable camping experience? Maybe it goes all the way back to when you were a child, or maybe you are still waiting. Along the River Campground & Cabins might be your new special place. Located in the heart of the White Mountains, between Franconia Notch and Crawford Notch, you will enjoy gentle breezes, the sights and sounds of the Ammonoosuc River, mountain views, clean mountain air, starry nights and new adventures in every direction.
We offer a variety of options for your stay – from primitive tent sites to premium riverview sites, full hookup RV sites, cabins with a full bathroom, and cabins with kitchens and a bathroom. We are close to all the major areas you want to visit: Lincoln, Franconia, Bethlehem, Littleton, Whitefield, Lancaster, Jefferson, Berlin, Gorham, Bartlett and Conway. There is so much to do that you will want to return. You can see the summit of Mt. Washington from our campground, and we are just minutes from the Cog Railway, Ammonoosuc Upper & Lower Falls, hiking trails and traverses, flat water canoeing and kayaking, Bretton Woods and Cannon Mountain skiing, access to 7000 miles of snowmobile trails, Santa’s Village, Lancaster Fairgrounds, several golf courses, and tax-free shopping! If you are an Appalachian Trail hiker, we are perfectly located for you or your trail angels to set up base camp while you conquer the Mt. Washington section of the trail. Come camp during the summer, and come back for a winter getaway. We are the BEST small family campground in the White Mountains, and you will be in the heart of all your best-loved outdoor activities.
Our Park
In the 1940’s, our campground started out as a roadside Motor Court where you would drive in for an overnight stay in a roadside cabin. In the 1960’s, Clark’s Cabins added field tenting sites in the vicinity of our current 50 amp RV sites and 1 cabin was converted into a bathhouse. Later in the 60’s and early
70’s, the Tarry Ho Campground was developed. What is now the campground owners’ house (and
office with store) was moved here from down the street, when the river was re-routed to make way for the
current intersection of Routes 3 & 302. The park’s name changed from Tarry Ho to Along the
River at the start of the 2018 season. In June of 2019, we purchased the
campground and are now in our 5th year of ownership. Over
these years, we have been improving our facilities for your
enjoyment. In the 1980's era, this campground was a busy
place for winter enthusiasts. In 2020, we reopened
Winter
Camping! Here you can ride your
snowmobile from your winter campsite or cabin directly to the 7000 mile NH trail system.
We are minutes from downhill skiing, cross country skiing, and winter hiking.
Our Staff & Atmosphere
It is important to have a clean bath house, well cared for campsites, cabins and amenities, but the staff is what makes our campground stand out from many other campgrounds. We have some very qualified help to assist us in providing you, our guest, a wonderful experience from the time you make your first reservation, through your stay, and beyond. When you call with questions or to make a reservation, you usually will have an owner talking with you on the phone. With our dedicated staff we strive to provide a customer experience that is welcoming and informative so you can leverage your valuable time in accomplishing your goals while staying with us in the beautiful White Mountains region.
Our Story
We are Robert and Michelle Lamoureaux. We met while attending St. Joseph’s College in
Windham, Maine, where we would often sit along the eastern shore of Sebago Lake and admire the incredible sunsets beyond Mount
Washington to the west. Our family has been RV’ing since 2001 and have traveled through most of
the Eastern United States, from lower Michigan to Florida and Maine. We gravitated toward the
northeastern region and the state of New Hampshire in particular. We purchased this lovely
campground in June of 2019. We are proud to own an amazing 5+ acres on the Ammonoosuc River on the opposite side of the
mountain we so often gazed upon while attending college.
Whether you have stayed at our park in the past or will be first-time guests, we invite you to
come and stay with us. Our family would love to share our small piece of paradise with you. We truly care about your satisfaction and will do everything
reasonably possible to ensure that you
enjoy your stay!
