YOU deserve a vacation. Get away from it all! Come breathe this fresh mountain air under the stars!

A bit of trivia ...

Our campground started out in the 1960's as  Clark's Cabins. Then late 60's, early 70's Tarry Ho Campground was developed and the now campground owner's house (and office) was moved here from up the street, when they re-routed the river to make way for the current intersection of Route 3 & 302. Name changed from Tarry Ho to Along the River for the 2018 season.

                                                                                  UNDER NEW OWNERSHIP!

We are  Robert and Michelle Lamoureaux, and daughter Jacquelyn.  We purchased this lovely campground on June 24th, 2019.  We have been campers since 2001 and traveled to most of the eastern US from lower Michigan to Florida and Maine.  We primarily stayed in the north eastern region with Pennsylvania and New Hampshire being our most frequented states.  Michelle and I meet while attending college at St. Joseph's in Windham, Maine. We would sit and talk in the dining hall at school while watching the incredible sunsets beyond Mount Washington.   Now we own an amazing 5+ acres on the Ammonoosuc River on the opposite side of the mountain we so often gazed upon.  Please come stay with us.  We would love to meet all who have once stayed at this campground and hear your stories.

Thank you for visiting our web site and we hope to see you very soon!

What Makes Along the River so Special...

We're located in the Heart of the White Mountains, the cross roads of America.  We are between Franconia Notch and Crawford Notch so we get gentle breezes (keeps the bugs down), beautiful sights and sounds of the river... mountain views... clean mountain air ... starry nights... and something fun to do or see in any direction.

Travel any direction from here and you'll instantly find many favorites of White Mountain visitors... views, waterfalls, hiking (4000 footers and Mt. Washington), golfing (6 golf courses), biking (rail trail across the river), Cog Railway, Grand Hotels, Kancamagus Highway, zip-lining, rock climbing ... Santa's Village, Clark's Bears and Trading Post, Whale's Tales, Franconia Notch, Cannon Tram, AMC Highland Center, WREN Gallery, Colonial Theater... the list truly is endless (might plan on staying an extra day or two... or seven).

The campground itself is mostly grassy, not pine needles. Some sites have trees around them, but we're not heavily wooded. We're small, flat and easy to get around, with both sunny and shady sites. River front sites sit up from the river (so no flooding) and come with electric, water, picnic table and fire ring. Primitive tent sites with a community water spigot, picnic table and fire ring.  RV - 3 way hookup sites (water, sewer & electric -20 amp, 30 amp or 50 amp), and satellite dish access (not all sites, ask when booking).

Our road side cabins are filled with the charm of yesterday and our guests love the atmosphere found within them. Cabin 1 is set up with 2 twin beds and no bathroom.  Cabins 2 & 3 have either a queen or king and their own bathroom, Cabin 4  has 2 queens in 1 room, a full kitchen and bathroom, Cabins 5 & 6 have 2 separate queen bedrooms each, a full kitchen and bathroom.  All cabins have screened front porches, picnic table and fire ring with Adirondack chairs.

Let us not forget our centrally located super clean Bath House renovated in 2016. Showers are clean, hot and FREE! We also offer campground-wide WiFI, in-ground pool, river access, playground, park area, Volleyball/badminton net, horse shoes & more!

In our store/office you can purchase firewood and ice along with renting charcoal grills and fire ring grill covers. We have a selection of convenience items should you forget that tooth brush, or bar of soap. Also available are several games and DVD's that you can sign-out and use at your site.

We make improvements every year. For the 2020 season we have put R08 & R09 back into inventory which gives you 2 more lovely river front campsites to choose from. We moved the community area to the river access path near site R01. This area is complete with Adirondack chairs, 2 gliding swings, and picnic tables. In addition to this new area, we have spent considerable time updating the pool area and store/office to make your stay more enjoyable and rewarding.

From Along the River Campground & Cabins there are a zillion ways to enjoy yourself!
