When was the last time you had an especially memorable camping experience? Maybe it goes all the way back to when you were a child, or maybe you are still waiting. Along the River Campground & Cabins might be your new special place. Located in the heart of the White Mountains, between Franconia Notch and Crawford Notch, you will enjoy gentle breezes, the sights and sounds of the Ammonoosuc River, mountain views, clean mountain air, starry nights and new adventures in every direction.
Our Park
Our campground started out in the 1960’s as Clark’s Cabins. Then in the late 60’s and early
70’s, Tarry Ho Campground was developed. What is now the campground owner’s house (and
office with store) was moved here from down the street, when the river was re-routed to make way for the
current intersection of Routes 3 & 302. The park’s name changed from Tarry Ho to Along the
River at the start of the 2018 season. Winter camping and cabin
rentals returns for the 2020-21 winter season. Here you can ride your
snowmobile from your winter campsite or cabin directly to the NH trail system.
We are minutes from downhill skiing, cross country skiing, and winter hiking.
The campground is mostly grassy, but not loaded with pine needles. Some sites have trees, but we are
not heavily wooded. We are a small campground, flat and easy to get around, with both sunny and shady sites.
Riverfront sites sit up from the river (so no flooding) and come with electric, water, Wi-Fi, picnic table
and fire ring. Primitive tent sites share a community water spigot and come with picnic tables, fire rings and Wi-Fi. For RV campers, we offer full hookups and Wi-Fi (water, sewer & 30- or 50- amp
electric), and satellite dish access (not all sites, so please inquire when booking).
Our roadside cabins are filled with the charm of yesterday, and our guests love the atmosphere
found within them. Cabin 1 has 2 twin beds and a full bathroom. Cabins 2 & 3 have
either a queen or king bed and their own bathroom; Cabin 4 has 2 queen beds in 1 room, a full kitchen
and bathroom; and Cabins 5 & 6 have 2 separate bedrooms each with a queen bed, a full kitchen and
bathroom. All cabins have Wi-Fi, screened front porches, picnic tables, and fire rings with Adirondack
chairs.
We also offer a friendly community picnic area along the river, complete with Adirondack chairs, gliding swings, and picnic tables … just one of the many little features that we feel make our
park special and will make your vacation experience with us enjoyable beyond your
expectations.
Our Story
We are Robert and Michelle Lamoureaux. We met while attending St. Joseph’s College in
Windham, Maine, where we would often sit and admire the incredible sunsets beyond Mount
Washington. We have been campers ourselves since 2001 and have traveled through most of
the Eastern United States, from lower Michigan to Florida and Maine. We gravitated toward the
northeastern region and the state of New Hampshire in particular. We purchased this lovely
campground in June of 2019 and operate it along with our daughter, Jacquelyn. We are proud to own an amazing 5+ acres on the Ammonoosuc River on the opposite side of the
mountain we so often gazed upon.
Whether you have stayed at our park in the past or will be first-time guests, we invite you to
come and stay with us. Our family would love to share our small piece of paradise with you. We truly care about your satisfaction and will do everything possible to ensure that you
enjoy your stay!
